I am a IT generalist with over 20 years experience in the field, with a focus on adminstration, development, and support for numerous online/web technologies (CMS & other web applications, hosting and other online services, etc). I also have a background in media communcations and, as such, I strongly believe that the ability to communicate clearly - in writing and otherwise - is one of the most important, and yet most commonly overlooked skills necessary for effectively providing IT services, particulary end-user tehnical support.

Interests

A large part of the reason why I've persisted and succeeded in IT is that my interest in computer technology is not solely at the professional level, I'm also a computer and technology enthusiast, and enjoy tinkering with both software and hardware.

And partly as a result of spending most days in front of a computer screen, I also try to cultivate & spend time on interests that get me outside - or at least away from the computer - such as hiking, cycling, swimming, carpentry, woodworking, cooking, and just about anything else that gives me an excuse to work with my hands & create things. In particular, I've been an avid home baker for over a decade, to the point of having built my own wood-fired pizza oven; and in the past few years, I've also taken up homebrewing of beer & cider-making.
